My new betta tank

You know what would be nice to add to your tank? Put some live plants. Throw a stem or anacharis in there or a piece of anubais or java fern. They'd grow nice and the betta would like having the plant in there.

You would have to have the tank in a well lit area to properly grow most live plants as the small led on the tank is not enough light (a guess to be honest). Betta do seem to like sleeping in plants real or artificial so I would add a plant . I like aquascaping these tanks - a simple colourful artificial plant can make an impressive centerpiece. I've done 4 tanks just like yours and they all have black sand, black background, with a single brightly colored plant obscuring the filter. The filters in these kits are actually good little pieces. They don't create as much disturbance in the water as a sponge filter. I've removed the stock carbon filter inserts and replaced them with course filter sponge cut to fit in the bottom and some small pieces of bio max on top arranged like a mini canister filter.
You may be able to get away with a dwarf shrimp. A small snail would work. Just make it easy to maintain and your betta will love it.

bettas really do enjoy plants!
