hey yalli recently got my first bichir and it stays mainly to the surface and i do not know if thats normal cause it goes to the bottom for about a hour before going to the top and sitting around 2-3 inches below the water line and im worried it could be struggeling as it stays in one corner the tank is stocked with two giant raphael cats 1 synodontis and a bunch of adult bns and a crystal parrot fish is it normal as the bichir is around 4 inches long max and it is just on the surface and im worried about it

Maybe get a couple more hiding places, but also remember that younger bichirs in my experience are more active, and they are also air breathers, so the younger ones will have to come up for air more often.
ok thank you and it is a caved bottom tank so there is tons of hiding places ive made and thank you ill add some more rock structure just to be safe

A bichir that size will stay near the surface if it feels that’s a safe place to be from my experience.
