shame you had to get rid of him..
Already have plans for a big enclosure, for both him and a future mate and my crocodile monitor pair (future).
there enclosure is going to be about 30L by 22'w by 8-10' H, and his will be a little smaller probably 15L by 12'W and 6-8'H.
but so far he has eaten 4 f/t pinkies, 5 mealworms, and about 12 calcium dusted crickets since i got him, and moves about the whole enclosure. Havn't seen him drink yet though..

nice, that will be an awesome size enclosure. what are you using for substrate? i had abouit a foot deep of mulch. if i had to do it over though i would go with a sand dirt mix with probably leaves on top. would have made it about a foot deep with probably a much deeper area of 2-3 feet deep/ i dont know, so many ideas if i ever get another one. anyways, these guys love to dig. give him the substrate to do it with. i only saw my guy drink a few times from a bowl. i would mist him a little every day and he would drink that way. id also soak him once a week in some shallow water (like warm). make sure to give him a good temp gradiant. mine had a 115-130 hot spot. 85 -90 warm side and about 75-80 cool side during the day. id let the temp cool down at night to about 70-75 but left a night time bulb on for heat, but not as hot as the day time one.

Sorry i really doubt it was captive born unless he shows you egg pics, egg pipping etc.

I have my doubts also, but whatever. He is still a good monitor.

he is only about 13-17" right now in a 63" x 39" x 36" enclosure with a little over 16" of dirt and mulch mix. his hot spot basking temp is around 118-135. and cool side is about 84-92. he has a huge water bowl/ soak tub. Hes pretty good on appetite. ate some f/t pinkies, super worms, calcium dusted crickets and even some hard boiled egg. I gave him a bath to attempt the training process to get him to calm down a little more than he already is, and he drank a bit in there and even dropped a load! He calmed down alot in there crawled on my arm, and swam a little.
Over all a good little monitor, can't wait to see him/her grow and get it a mate! :)
