My new Copper Convict

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes it's a red bay snook. just picked up the little guy a week ago. so far hes been really cool, especially when he yawns! Can't wait to see what he will look like when he gets bigger. I have actually been looking for pictures of adults but am having problems finding any. so if ya got pics please share.

Anyway, back on the convict subject, I really don't think it's a hybrid, just a strange throw off from the strain, you never know though nowadays, guess I'll see what happens when she gets older.

that is just a normal female convict...they develop those patches of orange on their sides when they are ready to lay eggs...if you were to introduce a male they would almost certainly breed...and terrorize everything else in the tank to protect their offspring

No, not convicts. You really think a male and female convict would pair up and breed? Well.......yeah, maybe. Thanks for pointing that out. :grinno:

I'm goona say hybrid

Good lookin fish though never seen a fish that looked like that that wasn't a hybrid looks short body to

I saw a fully grown copper convict like this at a pet store once. It looked really nice. Nice dark brown shade to it. It was underfed, but still very aggressive in the tank. Should have bought when I saw it 2 years ago. I still search for one everytime I go into a pet store.

WOW that con looks so cool with that color...i bet it isnt a hybrid, its body shape and everything are the same as a normal convict. you should breed that with a normal con n see if any of their babies come out with that color.

I am working on this color as we speak:D The first three pics are my female, to show my current progress...Last pic is to show you she is not short bodied....Nice fish, hold on to her....I will be interested to see her after she lays a few times and looses her stressed colors...You could have something really special...
