Black is my first choice too. I had a hard time deciding between black and blue. I went with dark blue because it make color fish looked better.

it's amazing how much difference a background makes. i have a 10g guppy tank that had nothing on the back and i didn't think that they had any color at all and then i did the background black and to my surprise they had tons of color.
