So its Coius quadrifasciatus? Also known as the American Tiger, or Silver Dat? Ive been looking for a dat for a long time, and went to my local store the other day, and this was the only fish I found in the whole store compatible with my gar. The store owner didn't want to sell it, and didnt have a price label on the tank. I talked him into it though. He put it on hold for me and labeled it Datnoid Micro, and when I picked it up, I asked what kind, he said Datnioides Microlepis. I must say its been a long time since I've seen a pet store call a "Monster Fish" by its right name. They are really bad at naming gar! Thanks for I.D. my fish for me.
Do you know if he'll lose those thin, half stripes between his full, wider stripes?

No, I believe that they gain those additional stripes as they get bigger. My smaller ATs don't have em, but my bigger ones do.

nice AT

Datnoids Polota. I read that this changed from quadrifasciatus. Anyways, I really like him/her, seems to have a dark color, dont know if that will change, but I like it. Thanks for I.D.ing it for me. I hate not knowing exactly what kind of fish I have, like my gar.
