Hey, i just bought two 5cm marlboro discus yesterday...for 35 dollars each:)

i always want discus but waited 7 years to get some experience though they are fish for people who really knows what they are in:D

im going on friday to get some wild ones, i though they cant be together but the LFS of here have them in a big tank and they are fine lol,

now i have this two, and 6 little angels in a 75gal. I HAVE A PAIR OF FIREMOUTH CICHLID but they are leaving cause they bother the discus too much and i dont want a 35 dollar fish death just because it was killed

im looking for tips, like what fish can i put in, decor, etc and comments

this is one

SORRY FOR THE BAD QUALITY PICS, THEY ARE FROM MY CHOCOLATE MOBILE

Well, they look a little stunted. Get them in good water, with frequent water changes, at least a few 50% each week. Also, feed them a good variety of foods, including bloodworms (frozen), blackworms (live), flake foods, beefheart several times a day. 4-6 is a good range. The two pictured are not marlboro red discus. They look like pigeon blood discus.

I would also consider changing the background of your tank. Put up a light nuetral color. This will help enhance the look of your discus. With darker backgrounds it tends to bring out their peppering even more.

thanks for the tip!!, i doubt they are marlboro discus...but when i see the grown up ones that the lady at the lfs show me, those do are marlboro, i dont know, maybe they do are pigeons lol

sometimes the bigger one try to catch the smaller one, thats bad?? but they stay with each other all the time too

theyre in a 75 gal, how many more can i put

im putting some wild ones too:)

I painted the back ground with a light blue color. If you don't like the permanent feel you could always paint some contact paper and tape it to the sides of your tank too.

ok, thanks, it looks nice!!!:)

love ur discus man

two more questions 4 u, sorry hehe

Why at the sides too??

and

Can you post a pic of a discus that you think mine will look like it when grow up??, just if youve seen little ones as mine and them grow up:grinno:

that's a tough one.. no one can really tell how your discus will turn out. Discus names aren't standardized yours were sold as marlboros but I see some checkboard patterns in them. They are peppered some I'm leannig towards a pigeon checkboard strain. The only way you can tell for sure how they have the potential to turn out is to see them while they are on their parents' sides.

here's a link to some adult pics that are called adult marlboros. As mentioned in the earlier posts your discus seem stunted. You can tell by the eye size in proportion to their body. Their eyes look too big for their size. Give them a lot of TLC and you can turn them around.

Sides of the tank are painted b/c discus can be very skittish towards shadows or moving objects they can't see clearly. They seem to do better if back, sides, and bottoms of tanks are painted.

Greyhound,
You ever order any discus from that sunrise place, I have been debating it for a few weeks now and ordered 3 2.5" today. Whats your impression on them?
