my new discus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thanks. they get along good with the geos ,but there are very weary when the geo's are out sifting through the gravle. i have bought 3 more discus from a different store but they are smaller then the 3 i have already had. no aggression in the tank at all, but i might be rehoming 3-4 out of 5 geo's as they haved spawned once already. i have to take my son to the doctors and then i will post pics of the smaller ones when i get a chance.

thanks again,
chris

You're playing "with fire" mixing Discus from different sources without first quarantining them for parasites and disease, but good luck to you.

i don't have another tank set up so i did take a chance. i only did it because everyone said that you should have 4 or more. i have my fingers crossed still but so far so good.

Very nice and agreed on the wild

I deffo think at least one is wild or at least pure F1 or F2. Look at the black band circling the entire fish around the out side of the fish.

Hi there.. Nice looking discus..
For future reference.. almost anything can serve as a qt tank as long as if it's plastic it's food safe grade... I use a clear plastic rubbermaid tub with a lid.. I just add a heater, filter/sponge and you are good to go.. You should have one setup in case of disease as well as always qt before adding anything to your discus tank.. Trust me you don't want to chance loosing all your fish when it's and works great.. I even use a clip on light next to it for lighting. and add a piece of dw and some floating plants if I am not treating for disease... very inexpensive and works great.. That way I can qt for several weeks and because it's about 15 gallons the water changes are a snap.
Also don't know how large your tank is but with both the geos and discus in there you are really gonna have to watch to make sure your new smaller discus are getting their share of the food. I'm sure you know that with young discus it's very important that they eat often and have lots of water changes..:D:D
Would love to see whole tank pics and know a bit more about it. Good luck with the discus/geo combo I know others have had it work in large 180 gallon+ tanks.. I would think the only issue would be how aggressively the geos feed.. The dicus are definitely gonna appreciate the larger size of the group. Good luck with the tank and of course more pics please. Sue:D

thanks, they are all in a 75 gallon tank for now. i am going to pick up a 100 gallon?? (72x18x14) tank this weekend hopefully. i donot plan on putting any more fish with them for a while as i already have thier tank over crowded. maybee i will give away 3 geos and get som rams and congo tetras once in the bigger tank. has anyone done this before???? i have 1 male 4 female geo's in the tank and they all do great to gether. with the discus being such picky eaters my geos and my black ghost knife are quick to get a meal from the discus's left overs. i do weekly water changes of %50. i took a few more pics with and without flash. i also put a pic of my quaker parrot "oats" for the hell of it.
i hope you like them.
