Hey guys, Thank god for 14 day guarantees. Here is my new bjd. My first two have croaked. This one does not seem like the others. It eats everything in sight and is very active.(unlike the fist two) Everytime I come near the tank or put the camera phone near the tank he comes up to me. It is a very very curious fish. Hopefully this one will live.

BTW: Normally it has alot more black and not as pale. Changes colors alot.(stress I guess)

love this piece man....

really love to own one myself.... too bad they only hit 7-8"...

It's been a week and this one is very active. This is a record for me lol. He is eating alot and is gaining alot more black and blue coloring. Hopefully this one will grow large and look nice.

Well nevermind. I AM DONE with these fish. Woke up today and it is doing the old breathing heavy in the corner of the tank while ALL the other fish are happy and swimming around. Then it died an hour ago. I tested the water and everything is perfect! These fish are just too weak and aggravating to deal with. Any ideas on what I should use the $40 in store credit on? I currently have:
3 clown loaches,1 green terror, 1 datinoid, 2 pictuius cats, adonis pleco, african butterfly and a freshwater flounder. The tank is a 75 and I am willing to get rid of some of the stock down the road. Right now the biggest fish i 3".
Man what a beautiful fish but just wayyyyyy to physically weak.

too bad about your little one, dude! was really cool looking.... i can certainly understand your frustration, with all that you have experienced with these guys. am wondering if there is some sort of genetic thing going on making these variants extremely fragile...?

Gee, that sucks. I'm not really sure if this has much to do with it, but obtaining those blue depmseys from the source might help. Jeff Rapps at Tangle Up in Cichlids gets them straight from the guy who developed the strain. I'm sure many of the ones in the LFS are just home bred, which could be a factor as to their weakness. I had the opportunity of owning two little ones for a couple of days until my tigrinus decided to eat them.

I am sure that those would be better then. I guess the thought of how much they are and what the shipping would be is what is detering me from ordering them online. I think that jeff also has a $50 minimum on orders and I think the shipping is another $30 bucks or so. Just not worth it to me with the experiences I have had with these.
