It's an investment up front for sure mainly because the pond armor is about $75 for the smallest kit. The good thing is once you buy the pond armor it will last enough to do 5-7 backgrounds depending on size of them.
The hours of labor do add up though that's for sure. For an average 4ft tank it's only around 20hrs or so. Some of the larger ones take a lot longer. The background I have in my 240g tank took me well over 100 hours of labor on that one
