My new fading flowerhorn

Well I got home tonight and the red tex is fading fast. He also ate some. It's just taking some time to get used to the African cichlids and their energy. I took a few pics hope they come out good. It's only around 2-2 1/2 inches. Should be fully faded in no time. Then I can help boost the red color. I'm really excited about getting this fish. Hope the little guy fades too.

This is a very interesting process. The fish looks almost sick because the colors are washing out. But I know it's healthy. Being so young the colors are mainly turning a pale white color and they eyes are turning black. There is a lot of red around the belly of the fish, hope it colors up as it grows. Really is fun to watch

Your fish might turn white and then start getting pearls and color. I say this because I have a red texas that went threw the same process, dont get rid of it jst yet. It may also have kamfa so it will take awhile to develope.

Don't worry I'm not even thinking about getting rid of it. I'm just gonna ride this out. This is my first red tex and I'm excited to watch this. Low quality or not I still like the fish.

How long does it take for the fish to fade? It's been a few weeks now and not much new has changed. His belly is faded and blotches on his sides but that's about it. Also his dark pigment has turned black, I can't even tell the difference between the "flower" spots and his side now. His eyes have gone from red to light black as well.

Pretty excited, looks like he's made some progress fading. Most of the gill plates are whiteish pink now, and most of the sides are white color now. It's weird, he's is peeling over and over against. One day he's light and fading the next he's super dark and some of the white area is dark again. Sure hope he fully fades. Ill see about some new pics.
