I have had this gravel for over 20 years Richard. Its a mixture of 2ml and 5ml, its very smooth infact its your favourite gravel you mentioned a while back somewhere,its the very light in colour "Dorset" gravel,the stuff you can't get anymore,its like gold dust but your absolutely right finer grade would be better all way through but I have bred and kept Hystrix on it for many years and they are ok with it, even the smaller ones can bury themselves so all is good.....thanks for your concern!..oh and thanks for the compliment LOL !!

Steve I will do my best regarding breeding these,the female I bred is almost sexually mature,the males I have are not so could do with a nice big lad to go with her to set the process in motion.

just looks bigger than what i had maybe its the mix that makes it look bigger

after not being able to find that gravel i stuck bd trading sand in that was a big mistake i done that with alans advice it stuck to the rays bad and i must have lost over 40kg in my sump

im using the unipac tana i love it no sticking as its a super fine gravel ade has the same but a different colour

i think the hystrix look good on the light dark gravel mix
 
Gorgeous Hystrix!!! If you were closer I have a very big boy that needs a lady :) But alas Washington state where I am located is a bit more than a hop skip and a jump.......

Here is my male sorry for the crummy acrylic it has since been completely buffed. He has already successfully bred a motoro and a reticulated. Nothing stops this beast LOL

Good to see the hystrix tank filling Richard,i know how special these rays are to you and how much you wanted to get a group going.All look very nicely marked rays.Very pleased for you.:)
