Maybe its just cause its still young, but doesn't look like a fire eel to me?

Anyway, as far as feeding, how are you feeding it blood worms? are you just dropping it in the tank and seeing what happens? if so maybe you need to find a little container or something to put the blood worms in so that you eel can slowly go and grab it when it feels like it... also, try feeding with the lights off, as they may feel more secure...

If the eel's living in the tank by itself, you can try throwing in ghost shrimps at night, which should atleast intrigue the eel. If not, try digging up some earthworms, preferably small to medium for it.

he has to be eating but im not thinkn its very much all he does is hide and stay around the intake of my filter. which i cant turn on cause he gets sucked to it

good idea i havent thought about sinking a bottle like that would probably help te keep my tank clean too. as for how i have been feeding i have just been dropping a sqaure of blood worms in and after they thaw out they sink. also tried flake and small sinking pellets

^ When i still had my old eel, i used to deforst the blood worms in a little container, basically just get an old water bottle or something, and cut the bottom off and make sure the edges aren't sharp... Fill it with tank water and place the bloodworms in there... once deforsted, drop the bloodworms with container into the water then wait and see...

Hopefully you'll get your eel eating soonish... i know it took me about 1 - 1.5 weeks before my eel was eating, but after that was easy sailing except i couldn't get it onto pellets...

Either way best of luck with it and hope to see your eel eating soon...

thanks i think he must be getting something to eat im just not seeing it when he does. ill try that f. homer

well i got up to go to work and he was dead this is like 3 i believe. it really sucks i had got fond of him. but at least liveaquaria refunded my money that was nice. the catfish is doing good. maybe he was just sick the whole time i had him who knows...thinkin now maybe they aren't for me. water test perfect, feed blood worms heck i give up:(

Sorry for your loss, fire eels (at least in my limited experience) are very hard to get onto certain foods... my old one would only eat bloodworms and scallops cut into long thin pieces...

As you said, maybe it was a bad batch or something, maybe he really never adjusted... either way, best of luck if you decide to ever try one again...
