I've thought about both. It would make the most sense for me to put a monster gallonage tank or pond in the garage. Concrete floor is already there and so is heat. This room will decidedly have lots of aquariums of many sizes.

Yes you do. Listen to music while doing it. It's the law.

More stuff
Fans with built in heaters. I barely used these last Winter because the baseboard heat (only two six ft. sections) did the job pretty good. I only fired up the fan heaters when it got down to single digit temps or below, something that definately happens here in Indiana. These work equally well in Summer months. Indiana is the suns anvil in mid July and I wouldn't want 'coldwater' fish to start keeling over any more than the neo tropicals.

Each fan came with a remote but I only need one to run them both. I can set the desired temp up to 99 degrees and of course I've already given that absurd setting a test run. Results ='sauna'. The remote also has a readout for what the real room temp is. One of the features I like best is that I can reverse the direction of the blades to create inverse circulation of heat, or just air. I can also adjust fan speed and turn the lights on/off with one click.

Eight recessed halogen lights were also added to the mix. I had a hard time deciding where to place them on the ceiling so that they would look good with the fans and wound up going for an airport landing strip theme. I couldn't get all eight lights in the photo because I don't own a wide angle lens.

More obscessive shopping for the perfect switches and covers led me to this style. I particularly like the fact that the switchplate attaching screws are hidden. The two rocker switches on the right are on/off for the fans when I walk into the room. The fans will do what ever I had them set for the last time I used the remote.
The switch on the left is on/off and a dimmer for the 8 halogen lights on the ceiling.

Another switch with the same motif. This one is just an on/off for the porch lights.

and..................more to come

The lighting is one of my favorite parts! It's perfect for veiwing tanks along the perimiter since it doesn't cause a glare and won't cause you to trip over ****.
