My new fish room with some pics

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats what my first fishtank ever looked like...a 10 gallon...they made 20gallon ones but they were for the serious hobbiest...lolol

Mine had UGF and that was the new technology of the day...1968 I believe...do you have the chrome tops as well?

I love them but it's difficult to find one over 10 gallons. This one has a slate bottom and is heavy. The only thing I don't like about it is that I'm skeptical about drilling the bottom for an overflow. Even if I drilled the perfect hole, I'm still thinking it would leak around a bulkhead.
Mine's slate bottomed as well and for a 5 gallon, it's very heavy, but not bad. It's sealed with some sort of tar and would probably hold water better if it were made of screen (which is the reason I haven't set it up yet). I'm thinking of doing a nano reef in it once it holds water (although I'm wondering how bad that will corrode the top edge of the frame). I also have a stainless steel light housing (it came with the sockets and cord too, but I didn't trust them-I'd feel much safer wiring it up myself), but it's a 20" fixture and the tank is 16". Hopefully I can eventually find a Metaframe 10

i think that there might be a new thread in the making

You might be right there. Was thinking part II for the West wall and letting this thread get swallowed by MFKs server.

No. I tried to get a 30" light for the 29g on ebay (strip only without hood) and it went up to $70. The tops seem to be more rare than the tanks.

I bought six cabinets for the north wall where the ro unit is. They will be configured similar to this pic only stacked higher. There will be a space in the middle for a tank of course! I'm currently sizing up the lower cabinets for some nice casters that are rated at 400 lbs each. I'm pulling out the guts of the cabinets so I can reinforce them with 2X4s and/or 2x6s.

good stuff!

man, we had a metal frame 125 a my job a couple of months ago. My boss was gonna clean it up and use it as a display tank or something, but he gave up on the idea and gave the tank away, too bad we're too far away from you location.

I'd kill for an original 125g meta-frame tank.
