i just got a new flower shrimp and i have never heard of them. Does anybody know if these are self cloning or have to have a mate? any info would help:headbang2:)

You are asking about the larger shrimp with "fans" for hands, right?

They are not self cloning and their larvae are difficult to raise. I believe they need brackish water and then must be moved slowly as they grow into fresh.

Tiny foods like invertabrate food for reefs is really helpful when feeding these shrimp. They will pick food off the substrate, but that isn't their prefered method of feeding. They usually hang out in an area of water flow, so just squirt some food into the current and they will catch it with their fans.

Iodine dosed at one drop per 10 gallons is helpful in my tanks with shrimp, it helps with shedding. Also, in my tanks I use calcium at one drop per 5 gallons.

ya i read that they can get 2-3in. so these shrimp need a current? and what do you feed them?

If this helps you in your search, they are also called "Singapore Shrimp" by some.

If anyone else was wondering, they looked like larger and darker versions of the bamboo shrimp.

All the walmarts are now starting to stock these guys, scared the crap out of me when I crouched down to take a look at them.
