MY NEW FLOWER SHRIMP!!!!!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
These are more like amanos and the babies are larval when born and need brackish to saltwater to survive. I don't think they have been bred successfully in aquariums, though someone claimed that someone in Japan had succeeded.

These guys can get hungry in a clean tank. You want some floating goodies for them to eat. I use baby bites by hikari (dust texture basically) and put it into the current for them to get. If you see them fanning the substrate, they are starving. Be careful not to foul the water with overfeeding though. You can also spot feed with a pipette or turkey baster and a little bit of food squirted at them.

They like a place to sit in current. Then they will fan happily and not move much...

HTH- GL!

Edit-- just saw Newts reply and I just laboriously typed all this cr@p up for you. Must be tired... so anyway, I guess just +1 for what he said! lol

I have a few of these guys in my planted 55, they love to hang out on top of some driftwood in the current, they're neat shrimp. They aren't as active as some of the algae eating shrimp, but it's fun to watch them fanning. Congrats on adding one :-)

I think your right in saying that in Japan people have bred them successfully, coz i've heard the same thing in Hong Kong from a few people, not to mention most of the time when you see these shrimp, they claim they come from Japan... although i don't know how true that part is...

well this shrimp is now dead cause my dad was moving him from one 50 to another and the 50 my dad moved him to was my tank with JDs a RD two Cons and a small tex (yes i know my tank is OVERSTOCKED and all my fish will kill each other in adulthood ) so now u see where this is going ;(
