Why are you placing the responsibility on the seller of the animal? Should it not actually be the buyer that should be responsible?

cause selling animals is not like selling an electronic gadget. i mean it should not be all about money. before you sell an animal you should know if the person is capable of taking care of such thing. ive been in the same road before, buying fish and disregarding the future of it. lets face it theres tons of irresponsible owners who would buy a fish just because it looks cool and not know anything about it. then we all know what happens after.

it is also part of business psychology, in the process of explaining things to your customer you create a buyer-seller relationship.

once you start keeping big cats an' all there sure comes a time when you go for a monster which grows almost nearly same as the cats but has teeth to show :D
nice gator

I'm impressed with your idealistic thinking but thats not how the world works. The animal and pet business is just that... A business.. Selling animals is no different than "electronic gadgets". It is about money or one would not be selling an animal they would be "placing them".

Buyers of a given animal are the ones who need to do their homework and buy the correct species for their situation and condition. It is the Personal responsibility of an animals owner to make sure they are informed of the proper husbandry of that animal. It is not the job of someone selling things to inform or prepare the future owner of it of it's proper use or care.

Some dealers do actually try to prepare an owner of an animal and thats cool, but in all reality it is YOUR responsibility in the end to obtain the proper materials and provide the proper care for your animals...

I agree, the responsibility falls on the buyer. The seller should the animal's requirements and size potential posted on the tank or on the site but he can't possibly be held accountable for what the owner does with the animal after purchase. If people want something bad enough whats to stop them from lying to the seller anyway? "Sure I have a 10 x 10 pool in my back yard just waiting for this gar..."

sadly your reality theory is true, i just wish the seller would give an effort to tell the buyer what are the things attach upon buying the fish
