Nice gar man. I like the color

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Future plans are to upgrade to a monster tank. I've got my eye out for used tanks, and I'm hoping to be able to find one large enough used. If not, I'll be buying/building.

Here's another pic, too.

I'm a big fan of aquascaping, but I'm also a big fan of minimal aquascaping. Until my cycle is 100% done, these guys are actually only on a bare bottom tank. After it's finished, I'm going to add a mixture of pool sand and natural gravel as a substrate. I'd also like to plant the tank, but I'm not quite sure how I want to do that. I love the idea and look of gar swimming through plant beds, so I'm trying to come up with a good way to do this. I'm actually thinking of some surface plants to block some of the light and make shade, and all tall low-light plants down below (maybe some val). I'd like to add some tannins to the water, too with either more driftwood or some composting leaves on the bottom. Most people want perfectly sparkling clear water, but I think this could turn out interesting.

The dino skull was actually a joke with my wife- she always tells me my axolotl looks like a dinosaur, so when I ran across the fake skull for $2.50, I couldn't resist! But I do like the look of it when it's hidden in plants and driftwood.
