What is this Characin and Belonid month on the Gar forum ???? Really I tend to actually like these fish myself but they have their place and their place is not really with Gar (Lepisosteids).. Common names do not make a fish related somehow..

These are very different fish that have very different care from a Lepisosteid. They really are not lumpable by any means.

Leave the poor guy alone. That's what the store called it most likely. Enough with the fake gar bashing otherwise you will get time-out. It is a cool fish either way with the right setup.

hmm, if we all hide behind the excuse that "that's what the store called it", we'd be in a lot of trouble. i do not believe peje is "fake gar bashing", in fact, he probably knows more about these "fake gar" than most people giving advise on them.
