what makes you say that if you look it up it will always come under gar and not charcins

that's cause people mistake them for gars instead of charcins. Gars (Ginglymodi) belong to the family Lepisosteidae and there are only 7 species of true gars(and several hybrids)

Lepisosteus Platyrinchus --florida gar
Lepisosteus Occulatus --spotted gar

notice you dont see needlenose there

I always see true gars at my LFS he had a 8 inch spoyyed florida gar and it was $75 looked pretty nice though but i never bought a True Gar From any of my LFS Just This morning my hujeta gar died by my jardini so no more tankmates for him
