My new geophagus sveni

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
These guys are a like a rambunctious group of teenagers... the sand is flying and the plants are floating. [sigh]

They even look a little abashed in the picture. Maybe they will settle down a bit in time. Beautiful fish.

After 5 months of having the sveni, I thought I would do a video to show how much they have grown. They have been an amazing fish, I liked them so well I added three g. neambi as well. The neambi are still quite little ( I bought them much smaller from TUIC).

Beautiful tank and stock Amy.
The geos have come on nicely.
Can't fault it. Great set up.

Thanks Stanzzzz7 Stanzzzz7 ! So happy to see you here again... :)
This is my plan...
Over the next year I plan to set up a 75 gallon and take the African tetras out of this tank. I want to add these tetras to a Congo Riverine biotopish tank. Maybe you can help me with some suggestions for other fish for the tank? Of course the tetras will be the centerpiece of this tank, but will probably add some small cichlids or? I dont know much about it. I will also just use some heavy woods, criniums and bolbitis. Im thinking I might use this design as a guide:

Thanks Amy. Its nice to be back again.
I'm trying to catch up on everything I've missed.

I love the idea of an African biotope, I've been dying to set one up myself. So many great fish and plants to choose.

A cichlid I have always wanted but have not yet kept is the very attractive, nannochromis transvestitus. A group of these would be lovely. I've wanted some for years so would be my first choice for cichlids.
I also like the catfish synodontis nigriventis. (spelling might be off)
To be most effective they need to be kept in numbers. A shoal of these is a very interesting sight. Personally I would want at least 10 to see them in their true glory
.
With the tetras you already have and a detailed scape, I think that would be enough.
Less is often more in my opinion.

I like African plants too. Most are relatively easy to grow and obtain.
One plant I would add is the African tiger lotus lily I love this plant . A very easy yet beautiful plant, it will soon provide a canopy of huge impressive leaves.

Whatever you decide upon, I'm sure it will be carefully executed and a pleasure to view.
