My new Gold Nugget

Just brought him home. Are these guys somewhat rare? I had someone at a LFS say they are not available anymore and the hadn't seen one in a few years.

They are probably one of the most commonly imported 'fancy' plec, the Baryancistrus 'gold nuggets' I mean. Yours looks like a L081.

i wouldnt think of them as rare but common..id say a scarlet is rare to me let alone uncommon..

Yeah, readily available but still beautiful plec's. Not sure what you're keeping him with but keep an eye out. Most bary's are on the aggressive side and will outcompete others for food.

EBJD, Eartheater, Red Severum, Rainbow fish, common black Pleco, pink Gourami---all 3" to 5"

More common,but also the most visible.I have some rarer fancy plecs Im lucky if I see a few times a year.The nuggets are out all day every day.
