They are looking great Tor!

Thankyou both! I have always liked progression threads, now i have one too. And they have surtenly changed over time, but always kept their main patherns.

Looking fantastic Eriik...they really are!
Not be long before you get some pups.

Mine are doing ok thanks.

I had 3 stunning little pups a few months ago from one pair but these were born on 89 days!!...can't get away with that with Hystrix, they are generally slow developers 150 days being more typical a gestation period. I do have pics of them but it hurts to look at them. They were almost there, in some of the pics they look fully developed but all arrived with a fairly large yolk sac and although I kept them on a glass bottom to prevent the sac from puncturing it proved not to be enough, I lost all 3 one day after the other....very sad!

On a brighter not I think one of my other females is gravid, its a pair I keep on there own with some mixed community sp similar to your set up Eriik, these are various disc Characins of the genus Myleus, in with these are a few Geophagus sp.....just love the Amazonian theme.

Anyway enough about me.

I wish you all the success in the world with breeding these special little rays.

As always i appriciate your opinion! I hope to soon get her going, she is a though one tho. Last night i could se her batteling my 80cm long sp peru female, hehe.. Had to put a stick in the sp. Atlast, she obviously had an advantage of being the bigger one. No damage done:)

Im so sorry about your pups! Hystrix pups has a special place since the gestation time is so long! And also they are not that commonly bred, for some reason a little difficult to get them to play.. Very very sorry!

I also love the amazonas, it started with angle fish, continued with discus, now stingrays and earth eaters! They look fenomenal , get fairly big in the right setup, and act very funny..

I wish everyone reading the thread a very good new year, and wish for alot of future hystrix pups:)

Tor-Eriik, good luck with your! Hope they produce some pups for you soon. They are a great looking pair.

Richard, sorry to hear about the premature pups. My female went about 190 days this last litter. Good luck to you as well with your female.

Thanks Jason!
190 days is a long time but worth the wait imo for the cutest pups ever put on gods Earth. I bred them several times in the past (an older pair that is) and all went well....all good things take that little bit more time.
