My new insect

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I cant believe you decided to put an insect in your caiman cage!?! you are never gonna see it in that massive enclosure!!!

haha, you know if you take a piece of grass or something and lightly touch the trap, the antlion will come up and attack the grass and BOOM! you have yourself an antlion.

hmm didnt know that. now i know!!

Ill keep that in mind when i see some more. I love these things. He's got his little funnel of doom built. now for an ant to fall in it :D

haha, cool you will have to get pics of it when you see it grab an ant.

How can i be the only one that has mentioned this. Am i the only 1 here that likes insects. Well either way they are all over the place around here. I have raised many. BUT that will not be a ant lion for lion for long if fed good. A ant lion is just the larvae stage for this.

Yes, eventually the cool ant trapping insect turns into a dragonfly basically (even though its not a dragonfly).

EDIT: Care, feed a ant or 2 a day and mist once a day is ideal but you can get by with less with the sand if there is moisture in the sand.

Thats funny because I honestly never knew they were larva until today.

lol, honestly the only way i found out is about a year and a half back i bought a native wildlife guide and about 4 months ago i found it all dusty in my non-fiction part of my bookshelf so i dusted it off and started flipping through it. THAT is when i found it out. It was around the time i started collecting my jumping spiders. So i really didnt know this that long and i found it out by accident. :banhim:
