After a shocking few weeks losing my rays, I've had a bit of good luck. After hearing about my situation, my friend was willing to trade me my jardini for his platinum providing I sorted out my water quality. Now that everything is AOK in my tank again. I just wanted to show off my new saratoga.

Not sure he's a true platinum because from certain angles I can see dark areas on some scales. But I'll let the community be the judge

Sorry for bad quality pics... LG don't make the best camera-phones

Nice Steve :D how big was yours that you traded ?

pretty much same size. Maybe a cm between them but I'm not complaining. He's already polished off some feeders that were also given to help him settle in

Quality get him on the raw prawns (or shrimp as you call them lol ) gets em bulked up with stunning colours , wish I could stick a pic of my beast on to show you but my phones crap :( had to e mail pics to turtles

I usually try to get them on a big mixture of things to make sure they don't grow into fussy eaters. But yeh, prawns are definitely on the menu for them

Mines a nightmare with pellets he'll only eat hikari sticks the ones that come in 57g bags can't find bigger bulk packs anywhere , spits hikari gold out , eats anything fresh though including the odd tankmate :D , have you ever bothered with feeders with any of your jars ?

nah not really. For the most part, the closest thing to livies is the odd cockroach or cricket ... but because we are in the middle of winter right now, roaches are slim pickings. My mate said he doesn't take pellets yet but won't stop me from trying. I like to use live feeders to help determine if new fish have settled in

nice jar steve i wonder if it is a true platinum myy jrs colours are really starting to show and darken up and get more redish

my other jar is quite similar to yours turtles, started to darken up quite a bit. It's a shame they never completely darken and become jet black
