well after wanting to buy a Leichardti for ages and doing heaps of research I finally bit the bullet and bought a Jardini, woops. I went into one of my favorite fish stores yesterday and they had WC Jardini ranging from 5" to about 7" and they were all stunners as well. Well I had to have atleast one, so I bought the biggest one they had which is about 7" maybe a bit smaller.

The problem is he only eats live feeders (not happening) and crickets, so I am looking for some sound advise on how to get him on to pellet foods. He is currently in a 55 with a pair of firemouths. He will go into a larger tank once he gets to about a foot in length.

Sorry for the poor pics, he moves around to much and the driftwood is still leaching.

Starve him, Nova... A couple of crickets for starters ( to check it it's okay )..than starve. If it does not eat, another couple of crickets in, say, five days(?)...and all over again..

My Jars go berserk over mussel ( at that size, chopped in pieces )..try it...

I'll feed him tonight and then starve him. I'll only add hikari for the firemouths and if he eats it thats great. I'm not to fond of starving him though, but if its the best way its a matter of 'you gotta be cruel to be kind' I guess. thanks for your advise Miguel

no the other way round, they have fry.

Nova, that is not good for the jar to settle in..baby aro's ( of whatever persuasion ) are weak and timid kids.....its when arriving at teenagehood that the poo hits the fan....

watch out the meeki's do not kill the aro....

Its nothing major, they just drop their frill neck things and he swims away. But if he stay's above them at the surface they don't even bother him.
The aggression is the reason he is in the 4ft to start with, he was in my 220 with my larger cichlids but the Oscars kept harrassing him. Nothing major just wanted a look at the new fish but he was getting stressed so in the 4ft he went. Looks good in there though.

he is so beautiful, best of luck and happiness with this jar. And good luck getting him off live, small baby crickets is what i would try,

He eats crickets fine, but I want to get him onto pellet food. He's stunning I just stare at him as he swims around the tank so gracefully, he keeps swimming into the glass constantly though.
