my new KAIJU rtg!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The $4500 RTG's were about 6 years ago, this lot they were less than half that. I mean the quantity of fish available here has nothing to do with the quarantine costs, although it does put the price up. I can't import direct from Kaiju because the fish need to be quarantined, and the quarantine facilities don't sell direct to the public. The fixed costs of quarantining a shipment means its not economical to import only a few fish, so we've either got to wait for the shops to get them in, or place an order and wait until the importer has enough orders to bring in a shipment.

i know a guy that imported some discus from hong kong to new zealand and he said the cargo ticket for the fish cost about $1500nz that was for two boxes

plus he said there is alot of paper work to be done on both sides before you can export/import.....then you have to pay quarantine fees

end of the day its alot of work and if a fish died the cost goes up alot more

quarantine in nz is about 6weeks

That's what i thought :D the quarantine is the price jacker for you and for Aussies (more so for Aussies it seems).

Alas, i am lucky that i can order from anyone on the web ... the shipping cost is the only consideration - that is why i actually got several fishes from the seller - to spread the shipping cost - plus they get delivered to my airport rather than me driving down to BKK and then cart the fish back.
