It's not a kk and the kok on this fish will never get massive.

Whether its a kk or not that's what he bought him as so thats what its called it doesn't matter what it is. How would you be the one two judge for kok size? I would say from pics of juveniles with a similar shape to his that I've seen really pop with age, a couple years that little kok will just get bigger and bigger. It isn't always the ones with prematurely overly developed koks that get the biggest.

That's not how it works. I mean the OP can call his fish whatever he likes, it's his fish, but no one is helping anyone on this forum by calling fish by names they are not. Almost ever other day someone on here wants a fish ID'd (correctly I assume) so yes, it does matter what this fish is.

Unless you are one of those that believe ignorance is bliss.

As the OP I have to say I disagree a bit with this logic. While I agree that is what it was sold to me as doesn't mean that it's truly a KK. I hope over time it really starts to show more Kamfa features than it currently does and regardless of what it is I think it's a beautiful fish and do not regret my purchase. As for Kok size I do agree with you right now, not even I can tell you whether the Kok will be massive. Have I seen it grow and change since I got the fish? Why yes I have and if that kind of growth continues over the next few months it could be massive but only time will tell.

Thanks for this. I actually agree with you and am just calling it a pearly kamfa at this point. Either way I plan to regularly update so everyone can see the growth and change of my new guy.

Sounds good, best of luck with your new fish.

I know thats not how it works, but it is way easier to call it by what it was sold as. There is no exact recipes for certain strains or types of flowerhorns, and what may be sold as one strain is an attempt to recreate a type or strain of flowerhorn so every one will differ a little from breeder to breeder. From what i see in the first pic he already shows characteristics of some king kamfa. He has a mild flowerline with kok marking and a faded upper lateral flowerline with medium size pearls.

If it is an actual strain then yes there is a specific recipe. If I remember right kk came from several kamfa breedings like past f3. The traits kks share are not showing on this fish.
It looks like a great fish though.

Was it f3 from zz x kamfa or what? I keep on reading that king kamfa are but there seems its all word of mouth. Do you know exactly?

If you don't know, then just call it a fish. Using your logic all the kamfa sold at Petsmart across the nation should be called red texas. Think about it. All that does is support ignorance.

Your taking my statement and directing them towards distribution problems of the flowerhorn market. We are not talking about petsmart we're talking about the op's fish a specimen that was ordered directly from the breeder. If it was a petsmart rt or lfs flowerhorn then yeah i would see your point due to the fact that they were shipped from the breeder to a vendor then to a store. Must i specify on everything i write down. By my logic all rt sold at petsmart are rarely rt but are either kamfa or zz.
