Got him today. He's 10+ inches, but the wholesaler couldn't tell my LFS which country he was from any ideas?

Was he just recently plucked out of the wild or has he been in captivity for some time? Does his spine look curved or is it just my imagination? He looks good, don't get me wrong, I'm just curious if he's getting what a lot of JD's get.
Pretty much just plucked as far as I know, I watched him get taken out of the shippers box. I've seen a lot of wild fish look like that. Im gonna fatten him up and see if that will straighten out. I was told by the manager of my LFS that the just became availiable. He was the only big one. The rest of the wild ones were just 3 to 4inches. Im getting 2 of the small females also and splitting them with a friend.
His spine looks fine to me, what I believe is giving you that illusion is the sunken in stomach. An actual curved spine points to fish tuberculosis, the sunken in stomach points to internal parasites. I'd definitely treat him (and any wild fish) for internal parasites.
I looks like it might be an illusion from the sunken stomach. Like he said, once he fattens it up maybe the curved look will go away.
Agreed. Who the heck brought in a 10"+ Festae? Decker, will your LFS disclose who the vendor/importer of this fish is? Thanks.
Idk if he will give me the source. I'm gonna treat him for parasites and try and pair him up with the manager of my LFS's 7in F1 female that has only 1 eye, but is a beautiful fish. The manager of my LFS and I have become pretty good friends and he is very helpful with getting me what I want and making special orders for me. He called me as soon as he got the news that they were availiable. I asked him to ask the wholesaler the pint of origin, but his wholesaler said all he knew was South America. I have what I believe to be a 6in wild colombian female that actually spawned yesterday with my 8in F1 male; I've been trying for months and she was pretty beat up when she came in, she was also a bit sunken in, barely ate and had bad hole in the head which I was told was due to bad water conditions on import from South America. Now she has totally healed up after treatment and is quite frankly the most beautiful fish I own and she smashes biogold and massivore on impact. I wil post a vid of the pair soon. I also aquired some 1in Rio Tumbe Peruvians on Tuesday, pics to follow.
It sounds like you're really into Festae. Would love to see pics of the whole crew...and congrats on the spawn. Btw my female is a rescue too that I had to get healed but she turned out beautifully.
