Festae = best cichlid IMO he is a great looking specimen, like you said, what seems to be a bent back is probably just an illusion and he will look more straightened out once he eats a bit
Thanks, I just picked up a 6in female and placed them divided in a 4 foot tank for now. On my pair that just spawned, I should know in a couple days if the eggs were good. They seem a little too fungusy to me, but only some have turned white. I think I need to add some circulation on the female's side, divider is still out for now.

Exactly, in fact he even eats pellets now and pretty much comes to top of tank when I walk by. I will take some new pics or vids soon. After I did waterchanges over the weekend, I noticed he and his female were immediately trying to mouth eaxh other thru the divider. I took out both dividers Tuesday at 5am, I have another pair above them. However he seemed to be a bit of a bully so I put their divider back, but pair above those two are doing great eggs should arrive soon.
I recently got a couple of festae my self that are wild caught female about 6-7 inches and male about 9-10. they both cost me about $90. They had a sunk in stomaches but now they ae fine. I feed them worms and ghost shrimp.
