so after my 19" silver decided he would prefer living (for a short time) on top of his glass lids- I had only 3 aros in my 300g- and the weakest was taking shots from the other two-
so first I thought Id try some chalceus' since Ive had success with them before in a 1 black and 1 lei community- not this time, the 5x 6" yellow fin chalceus were more jumpy and high strung than the aros, which made the aros get as jumpy as they were- so I pulled them and their flat noses out, and gave them to nurse chester to fix them up-
I was back to square one until I picked up a 12" lei off my pal Rich- the smallest in my community 1s 12-13" and the big ones are 18" and 19"- just before the introduction, I fed the tank so they all had full bellies, I put black sand in to change their scenery, and just had the moonlight going to keep them calm-
it didnt look to promising from the start- thankfully, I have a 115g growout on the other side of the room- but I had to take the babies out, and put them into a 54g corner bowfront that I was holding for chet- so now the 115g was freed up for the lei to put some size on- Ill stuff him for a while and go from there-

Your Lie Arowana looks very gold in coloration more that I've ever seen before. Is that a yellow or gold light that you have on top of your Lei tank?

nice lei!

it was until it met my fish, but its nothing permanent, so itll be nice again- thanks

I just got one at 4 inches. My first aro since my black jumped out and died. I have kept jars, silvers, and blacks. How do these compare? Anything I should know?

this is my 3rd leichardti, and I found them to be super jumpy, especially the small ones- I have a baby also, and hes always hitting the lids, and I keep it calm around him- this one is a foot and the calmest Ive had, but thats still more jumpy than any of the other aros-
also, they are normally very aggressive, this one seems alot more passive, which is probably why the others beat on him- the other leis didnt even like bichirs which are normally safe from aro attacks

Jumpy indeed. When I picked mine up it flew outta the tank like no tomorrow. More aggressive than a jar? I am hoping to put it in with dats and pbass, when it gets bigger.

no, not more than a jar- but not too much less either- I also noticed that the leis seem to like to jump a few times, like a black or silver will jump and then seem more comfortable(or have a concussion)- but in the same situation the lei might jump, barely land and then jump again, back and forth 3 or 4 more times until it calms down

Do take note that all small aros are extremely jumpy. Most of the time hobbyists lose their small aro due to the fella escaped from their tank.

Nice lei btw. Hope to see a bigger fish in your next update.;)
