What type is the black sand in the Motoros tank?

the sand is black aquarium sand. I normally just use pool filter sand but petco cut this bag open when unpacking it so it was 50% off figured why not. tho i would like to add another 30 lbs bag to the tank.

My rays only hide in the sand when they are nervous/scared. They bury when fighting over worms and during water changes. Is this different ray to ray? I have never kept any ray other than retics so I am not sure...
