whats wrong with feeding aros live food ?

I just don't want that to be the only thing he wants. My jardini would only take live for a while and it was hard to feed him. I finally got him on hot dogs and shrimp so now it is much much easier to take care of him. Plus I don't want to have to buy any goldfish cause I don't want the chance of him eating a diseased one.

Nice juvi, I would keep him at a temp in the low 80's though, not at 75 degrees.

Oh thats true. I completely forgot about the temp. I keep my jardini at 82. Thanks for reminding me.

I just went out and checked the temp of the tank and it is actually at about 80 degrees. I noticed a must of turned the heaters a little higher than I originally thought when I heated the tank the first time. lol

I fed beefheart today to all my fish and I this little arowana charged the beef heart like he was addicted to it. He hasn't eaten until now but man he sure loved it. Not one of my fish turned their nose up to the beef heart, even the ripsaw cat who only takes pellets ate it. It is the first time I have ever fed beef heart and Im going to throw out the hot dogs and feed that from now on.

you are one lucky aro keeper whose aro takes on pellets. well i feel pellets are more safe than live feed and also the proportions of all necessary vitamins and minerals are present in pellets but again dnt stick into a single brand try various... just my thought

Well for the record I haven't actually seen it eat pellets. I am only going off what i have been told from the lfs. I definitely don't feed just one type though to the other fish that do eat pellets. I do only feed hikari brands but I change up the type all the time. I don't feed live fish to them, only the occasional cricket or earthworm I find in the yard.

Thanks everybody. Let me correct myself now. He definitely does eat pellets. I watched him today eat several pellets off the top of the water. :D
