my new oscar ! :D

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
btw, how long will it take to get it used to the new environment? when it was still in the lfs, i played with him, but when i put it in my tank, she still doesnt want to eat and play or anything. is this normal?

Yes that is normal behavior for them. Oscars usually take about a day to get used to their new home, even with a 30 minute ride home. I just brought a new Albino Red Oscar home and he was the same way by the next day he was doing just fine, eating and swimming about. Good luck.

now it just sometimes just lays in the bottom of the tank. is this normal for oscars? but as i searched on google, oscars can be like in this situation if they are stressed. they mention it tht the oscar is sleeping. hahah.

Oscars can be for lack of a better description, Drama Queens lol. Mine have done the same thing before, it is not unusual for them to just rest on the bottom of the tank and mope about. They usually do it when they've eaten too much or sometimes when they are in a new environment, it is normal behavior for them and after a little bit they will come around. Also something to note, if they do over eat they tend to swim a little sideways until they digest their food or throw up what they cant finish.

when will this last?
is ure oscar now eating and playing actively? did u just leave it alone when this things happen? sory for the questions. :)

Well the laziness after a big meal doesn't last very long, maybe 30mins-a couple of hours. Oh yeah my oscars are doing just fine swimming and playing around like normal. Yeah I just let them be when they get like that and they always come out of it. One thing about Oscars, when they are babies make sure to monitor your Nitrate and Nitrite levels, if they become too high it could cause them to die. I don't want to worry you about the last part, it is just something to be mindful of.
