Hello forum readers, I'm new to this so PLEASE be patient with me. I wanted to ask about a food I bought my new oscars ( NOT sure what kind they are, there from WalMart) they had me get gold fish food and I knew that they needed something else,so I took it back and got pellets, and I wanted to get them some shrimp but they were all out so I got them Blood Worms,so that is my question can I feed my Oscars these blood worms?? And if anyone has got a oscar from walmart before would you know what kind they are?? Thanks!

I drop a full cube of frozen blood worms in my tank and my oscars will eat two or three WHOLE cubes before they are full. blood worms are a good food, but be sure to offer a variety diet. pictures are the only way to tell what kind of oscars you have.....i have two old pics of mine Ill post here in a sec...

These are some old pics of my old tank setup, they are now in slightly brackish water with a huge piece of driftwood and loving it!!!! anyway, the one in the "front" that is mostly red on his side is a "red oscar". The one in the back is a tiger oscar and has more of a spotted appearance. If you got a white one than its an albino oscar.

You can feed them cichlid pellets, but the best thing to do is to vary their diet as much possible with different meaty kinds of food.

I feed mine pellets and king prawns (which they love!)

What I feed my oscars are hikiri gold floating pellets and I will also give them shrimp once Ina while. You should really try and get them on pellets.

how big is your tank?

mine love hikari gold pellets and any kind of frozen food they can be picky about the type of pellets they eat if you feed them one paticular type for too long that is all they well eat so a varied diet is best from my experience
