Went to the lfs and grabbed three ocells while my 40 breeder is cycling. They are currently barricaded off with a divider in my 30 gallon running filters turning over the water 10x / hour. One died randomly after three days, he was the biggest in the group and eating fine. I decided to go back to a the lfs and saw what I believe is a 2 spot mono so I grabbed him. He was TERRIBLY thin but I got him anyway hoping to nurse him back to health. They are currently sitting at 84* water temp and eating mostly bloodworms. One of them is taking frozen krill and pellets here and there. I don't wanna starve them at this point to get them off the bloods because I believe they are too fragile at this state. Well enough of my talk, here they are. Can anyone confirm the ID on the 2 spot? Are they rare? And what do they usually sell for? Any tips are welcomed as well.

Here are their tankmates.... Going to transfer them to the 40 breeder first to try and get them off bloodworms. They won't eat hikari bio-gold.

Here is a video of the whole pack... very minor aggression. Will the bass grow too fast for the suranemisis and eventually eat them?

Here is the 40 gallon. I think the black sand will make them all look better, especially the geo's and albino oscar.

You are correct, it is a two spotted Mono. As for the price, It's probably the right amount because you got it. I, personally wouldn't have gotten it. Even if it was $2.99.....(Ok, maybe I would) but, I wouldn't go out of my way to get one. As for rarity, Eh, you'll find them here and there. So, I'll rate them (on a scale from 1-10) a 5 for rarity 1 being Uber rare and 10 being common.

Tips:
Might want to watch out for the Oscar.
Keep temps about 84-89 with a lot of aeration.
Feed them as much as you can (3x a day). Given that smaller pbass have a
higher metabolism then in there juvenile stage, baby bass can/will burn food fast.
So, keep them well fed.

nice 2spots...just like mine. i bought my 2spots by accident :), didn't even notice till it stayed in my tank more than a week :p

mine was smaller than yours, don't worry it'll grow. My mono now is almost 5inches, only in 2 months.

just curious, 40 breeder for p. bass? i got 3 in one and it is only to last a month till i get my 500g. i hope you dont plan on keeping them in there for too long. i like the 2 spot bass though

Next upgrade is due about now isn't it? Seriously, that stock list in a 40 breeder will last about 2 months. Gonna need a lot more room fast.

Just give the OP the benefit of the doubt. We can only assume that he/she planed for it because he/she bought them. Plus OP bought a Oscar not to long ago and add it to his/her's 120gal (I think) with a RTC.

And a Pbass (three at that) will last longer then two months in a 40gal tank. (6 months max for the 40gal).

Yes the 40 breeder is for short term. I am contemplating whether I wanna buy a used 125 or just jump right to a 240 gallon.
