My new pet arowana

From what i study from uncle google basically there are 4 types of red arowana:
1) Blood Red
2) Chili Red
3) Orange Red
4) Golden Red

When looking at real color, only blood red and Chili red can really be named Super red or grade one red.
Orange red and Golden red usually dont have the quality and characteristics of a true Red. Their color is of a lesser grade red and usually even orange instead of red.

The pearl scales on the arowana can determined the quality of the aro..
If more pearl scales exist..the potential to have colours up to the 6 scales of our grown aro is bright.

1) Who told you we ate Blood red arowana's for 4 USD here in Malaysia? They're from Indonesia, our rivers only had golds and greens.

2) Forget about the different labels used for reds. Chilli, Blood, Super, doesn't matter. Its just marketing.

3) Learn the nitrogen cycle. A good understanding of it will go a long way in this hobby. Its like riding a bike, once you know it, it'll always be with you.

for the sump to stop your fish from getting sucked into the overflow you need some type of screen inside the tank at the mouth of the overflow to block fish and large debris from getting down into sump tank. usually at the base of the overflow pipe that goes into sump there is a type of sock or filter to catch large debris before going into the bio media. my sump i have a sock on overflow pipe several layers of filter media, filter floss, some brillo type scouring pads, and plastic scrubbies. i will be adding, ceramic rings and bio balls, only because i dont have a favorite i like to mix the types of bio media. basic filter setup is needed, mechanical, biological and chemical. mechanical filter removed the particles from water, the bacteria in the bio cleans the nitrogen, and the charcoal removes chemicals from the water. i noticed the water level is a bit high in your sump, for the biological portion to work, the water level should be lowered to the height of the highest seperator. look at the other pics of sump setups for basic ideas... good luck, beautiful fish your very lucky to have the opportunity to own one of those beauties!
