Actually with Lugubris group pikes the best way to sex them is by the white stripe in the dorsal. Females have it, males don't. The red belly can be kinda iffy, especially with species like tapajos red...where both sex's are red.... For fail safe sexing, look for the white stripe in the dorsal fin.
