Never mind my previous thread ... the 200g pond is out, the new 1100g ]V[onster is in !!!

I found it today for $20, and I told them I would give them $40 if they would hold it 3 weeks until I move to my new place

It is all fiberglass, with 2 metal bars to keep it from bowing??? It was supposed something military, then used by 2 different familys as a pond. The last people used it for 15 Comets :ROFL::ROFL:

Dimensions: 16' long, 4' wide, 2.5' deep

I will still have to figure something out for the winter, since its still not deep enough to keep fish in for an Ohio winter, but I've got a friend who should be able to take them in.

Filtration is still a question, but I will figure it out.

Stocking will be koi, I am unsure of the number/size.

There will be some plants in it (to keep the GF happy)

And my plan is to dig a hole about 1' deep, then put it in, and then use stones to surround it and make the sides/front of it look nice

WTF justin you come across something like this again hit me up. I'm trying to get my parents talked into letting me build a koi pond at there place.

SWEET pickup btw

koop -- they said the person they got it from used to have two (this is one) ... I can ask and see if they know anything about the avaiability of the other one.

also, this is obviously going to be A LOT of weight ... should i worry about any underground pipes/lines being crushed?
like i said before, my hole is only going to be 1' deep, so i wont be too close to anything, but it will be a lot of weight if anything is under it ???

I like the upgrade Justin. The koi etc will like that one better :)

You selling the old one? I want it.
its actually already sold ... i put it back up on craigslist today for $80, and someone came 45 minutes later to pick it up.
not bad considering the $25 i paid for it :)

yeah i think so too ;) when people started telling me i could only do 4-6 small koi in the other one, i knew it wouldn't last long.
when i saw this new one, i fell in love ;) and for the price, i couldn't say no. all in all i will come out making a profit by selling the 200g and buying the ~1100 :naughty:

dependin on where you are moving it won't be a problem but call O.U.P.S. they will for free get ahold of all ultities and they will come mark any lines that are under ground. for free.

but even if this thing sat right on top of a line it wouldn't break it. there is just to much surface area and the ground will not buckel or at least not that much.

But call anyway b/c your lines may not be 30" underground and you don't want to hit them when digging.

thanks for the info, i will for sure give them a call, just so i can sleep at night knowing that propane isn't slowly leaking into my house, lol!

i was just thinking of how much total weight it was, but then i got to thinking its not very tall, probably about the same as a 265, and i wouldnt worry about filling a 265 and sitting it in the back yard ... its 16x4, so thats a lot of surface area to disperse the weight

hey justin ive got 9ftx5ftx30in deep pond with 4 koi and 1 channel cat all around 14 in and i dont have a problem with winter at all but i dont let it freeze over everymorning i plug in the 1200 watt heater for lie 2 hours and the fish semm completely fine

that was another option i had considered ... i wasnt sure how hard it is to keep it from freezing ... i would hate for a power failure to kill them
