  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Congratulations Ashly, the pups look super nice and rightly so coming from those parents..Lode did you proud there..
Always liked that male myself he's stunning and the female is very nice also,..Good luck with them and may you have many more pups to come.
Giles :-)

The one you refer to in the second picture is the Male, he's from holland yes, i bought the female from a dutch breeder that i got in touch with who was an absolute diamond of a man and the result are the pups.

The picture looks as though it's edited but i've seen other photos and he genuinely is that stunning, i'm hoping that the pups pick up a lot of his traits but the mom is thousand island too so i think they could be special indeed, just holding on to find out.

I'm chuffed with the size of the little, couldn't have asked for anything more.

The pups are very timid at the moment - how long do you guys find it takes for them to not huddle so much and swim around searching for food?

That is one stunning looking male my friend, well done. Do you have any shots of him in the tank? Again congrats on such great pups and so many of them. Best of luck with them. If I wasn't already maxed out on how many rays I can have in one tank I would be very interested in one. I assume you will be selling them?. Really great work matey!

Thanks Giles it's great to see you on here and posting, the Henlei you let me know about are doing fantastic too - really appreciate that.

Thanks for the comments Jim, just to clarify though the male isn't mine so i've not got any more pictures of him unfortunately, although i might try and get some more as sometimes the dad looks to good to be true that you feel like you need to show a bad picture to justify it's a true ray and not just an edited picture of awesomeness!

I'm actually unsure of selling them too - i really like the fact that all these pups carry the thousand island gene on both sides and there is quite a variation in the markings of the pups i'm quite interested in how they'll go - it's also my first litter so they carry a great sentimental value for me.

I would say though Jim - can't you get another tank? every time i see a ray of yours it looks fantastic, if you had more tanks, we'd all get to see more fantastic rays :O

Ha ha, wish i could get another tank. It took me over 5 years of working on the wife to get this one. And i only managed this as i unfortunately lost both my grandparents. They left me some money and i built the tank in honour of them as my grand mother was mad on anything aquatic (probably where i get it from). We all know how expensive this business is. I am hoping my rays breed and make me some money. I have a space in the same room as the main tank that could fit a 5x3x2 tank. If i get the funds i will work on the wife again and get this tank for pups or to seperate the other rays if needed. Good enough size to give a tired female a rest!

That's a very nice story Jim, i'm glad you finally got what you wanted and what your grandparents would have wanted - it's nice that you've done it so well too, many years of pleasure to come from those particular BDs i think.

Your wife sounds a tough cookie! It's a bit like that with my girlfriend when i see a new fish lol

It was the rays they were born with, not another pup.

There are rays up towards 2' of size in there but i think it was the younger more curious Henlei around 12" - they're much more wild at food time too so just got ever curious i think, unfortunately.

Great looking pups Ash and what a first litter...WOW!!
Those pups should turn out very special with parents of such quality, the male is outstanding.

Well done!...... very happy for you!
