my new ray tank (awaiting ray)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have rays move 5lb++ rocks all the time...so yes...Say goodbye to your plants. Rays destroy tanks, they cant help it they have needs...LOL

will they rip the plastic plant ?
cause if not its not going to move i used a 1 1/4 stainless steel screw to fasten the base of them to the driftwood,(driftwood is fastened to 12in slate slabs)
plus the ray i am looking at is only 5-6 disk diameter
will he still destroy the it at this size? i know when the get bigger of course i probably have no chance but for now would he ruin things ?

oh and before anyone asks, before i fastend the driftwood to the slate slabs i filed and sanded the slate to make sure it has no sharp edges

A few of these pics have been posted so far but i figure i'll show you guys the rest of them.
First pics is just in the setup stage.
Second and third are tank set up (cycling) with temp lighting till i finished making the lid.
The rest are pics of my custom lid and finished set up (love those moonlights).
More pics to come when ray arrives and when i finish building something to cover that ugly tube stand (didnt want to buy/build a new stand as i will be upgrading this in the neer future)
note: tank now has 2 air stones not shown in these pics just for added oxygen/looks

enjoy :)
I really hope you are using a fish eye lens.
In one of the pictures it looks like your stand is a bit curved.
I would be concerned. That could be lots of water on your floor.

the tank looks good

but i would also be worried about the bent stand

its not so much the stand falling thats the problem its the bend/flex in the glass thats the problem it could crack at and moment and with rays moving rocks around which they will do you stand the chance of the bottom braking

it doesn't look like you have much cushion under the tank base not much Styrofoam/poly

at the end of the day don't listen to what people say its your tank your floor your towels your mop your bucket

my 350g tank is on the 1st floor on wood joists if it goes it goes my tank my risk :D
