Im finally starting my own thread about my new piranha..

here's a pic of it.

there's two of them..
they are in a temporary 18gallon tank right now..
my 60 gallon tank is on its way..
my RBP is a bout 4"..

What do u think guys? is a 60gallon tank good enough?

what's the dimension of your 60 gallon?

I wish you a lot of luck with your piranhas and I hope you care for them with the respect this creature deserve... I notice that the piranha in the picture looks like it's older then a year so I'm guessing it is already stunted and may never recover from this. Which means that he wont be growing to his full size and may not grow at all, depending on how bad the mistreatment was. He also may have a shorter life then normal but again would have to know specifics before putting a guarantee on that. With that said:

I would look into getting a third as they normally don't eat each other as much when in groups of 3 or more. A 60g is the smallest amount you could house 3 piranhas in and I wouldn't recommend it, I would go with a 75g or larger. Make sure you have great filtration and water movement and don't goldfish as they are stunted enough. Make sure to keep up with water changes and a good diet and with luck they may grow to some nice sizes :D

lol... ^^^ Yeah i would say its bigger than 4" but thats a nice pickup. I think that 2 in a 60 gallon would be fine. Just make sure that you have plenty filtration. I just got rid of 4 6-7" RBP last week and got a Red Devil in my 75 gallon. It wasn't until I put my RD in the tank that I found out that my ammonia was sky high at 2.0 ppm. I couldn't believe this as I have enuff filtration to accomodate 120 gallons and did bi-weekly water changes. Good luck

lmao, i was about to the P in the pic looks bigger then 4 inches but looks like you guys beat me to it. A credit card is 4.2 inches and you can imagine what that looks like in your hand. Unless the dude has midget hands, that's bigger then 4 inches.

2 rbp that size in a 18gal tank?i keep fry in 15gal tanks.probably gonna have a lot of aggression between the 2 very shortly!hope your 60gal makes it there in time.

many thanks you guys... my bad, its a 6 1/2" in size..

@ JP - its a 48" x 18" x 18" tank. that would go about 67g.

@ GREEZ - ur ryt dude.. the real reason i wanna keep this piranha's s they were kept in a 30g tank.. and were fed in a "not so healthy diet"... the tank has moss all over it.. u can barely see whats inside it.. i was so shocked when i saw these RBP's inside.. and they thought it was a Pacu...

@ SOLID.. - wow! u got a very big tank there.. m jealous.. maybe next month when my salary arrives, ill be putting these babies in a bigger tank, say at least in a 100g tank or so..

my 67g tank will be ready tomorrow, so, good luck to me! ill be posting some pics also... thanks again u guys!
