Hello guys,

I couldn't resist the allure of arowanas and got myself one red piece.
It's 7 inches long now and I hope it'll grow nice and strong..

The LFS recommends to feed it market shrimps, but I read something about droopy eyes if you feed shrimps.

I'm not too comfortable with feeding it live food so are there any alternatives?

My tank size is a standard 4 x 2 x 2 with a canister filter.

Cheers,
New Aro keeper

I advocate floating pellets.

Very nice looking fish! I love reds.

^Or anywhere else in the USA. I'd love to have an Asian someday.

I would also feed it Hikari Food Sticks. Frozen foods such as Tilapia, Silver Sides, and Shrimps will not cause drop eye and are some of the healthiest food sources. If your canister isn't an Fx5 I would upgrade your filtration when your Arowana gets larger.

If your tank's light set up is wrong, the fish will develop droop eye as well. Doesn't mean feeding certain food and it will develop droop eye.

Yeah I'm a fanboy for Hikari Carnisticks and Jumbo Carnisticks.

I'm a fan for hikari pellets as well. I always use them as pellet training tool. Until the fish is accepting pellet then will I start to switch other pellet into their diet. Feeding hikari pellet alone to my collection is gonna burn a big hole in my pockets....

Yeah once I have as many big, beautiful fish as you I'm sure feeding Hikari as a staple will get expensive lol
