hey.. all the best.. the aro is gettin used to the new environment.. it should be fine in a day or two.. just watch the water parameters and prob do a small WC every other day till you get it right.. do not switch off your filters or heaters.. if the lights can be dimmed.. its better.. or switch off the tank light and leave a small zero watt room light around the tank.. cheers

yeah thanks for the help he is alot better now i havent seen him at the bottom at all yet so yeah thanks ill turn the lights off and leave a lamp in the distance on

Your Aro is lucky that he is in a 150g tank right away. I got my 5" Aro and put him in a 15g tank initially. When he was becoming around 7" I noticed that he was getting very skittish. Mainly because he was finding the tank boundaries very quickly. At 8" I put him in 65g tank and he is way less skittish now with the extra swimming space.
Good luck. Silver Aro is a lot of fun to raise.

That's good. The most challenging part is to prevent it from getting drop eye as much as possible. Good luck and happy fish keeping. I placed my 6" aro immedietly in a 240 gallon tank.

yeah he is loving it he was in like a 30 or 40 at the store and he really loves this open space cant wait to watch him grow i just hope i can get him on something besides live they fed them live feeders and freeze dried krill so i got some krill and hopefully he takes those and teaches the pbass to eat them too and then eventually takes pellets haha anyone got any advise for breaking arowanas and pbass from live food i would appreciate it

yeah i really dont want him to get that but from what ive heard its pretty much unstoppable but yeah thats why i want to get him off the live food because i think that would be a major cause of it imo because they are lookings down for the feeders not up at the surface and nice im going to uprgade soon hopefully to an 8 foot tank somewhere around 250-280 i think but yeah he will be good for a while in there

update!
well today i put some frozen bloodworms in there and the aro ate a big chunk and the bass was eating the leftovers and then i put some freeze dried krill in there hoping that he would eat those didnt touch them for about 30 mins and there were a few pellets in also and he put one of the pellets in his mouth and spit it out and did that a few times with different ones but then got a krill and ate it but i really want to get him on pellets same with the bass i dont want to have them stuck on feeders for health reasons but yeah im pretty happy hes eating now he only goes to the bottom if im opening the lids and doing stuff like testing the water and then he comes back up so if you have any suggestions on how to break them from live onto pellets i would appreciate it thank you

What a cutie!

I find that crickets and earthworms tend to ellicit an immediate response- if you do earthworms (nightcrawlers would be best, don't dig up your own out of risk of pesticides!) then you're going to want to squeeze them out a bit, and hold onto them until the aro grabs them. Plus, it is a LOT of fun to play tug of war with a young aro! Enjoy it before he gets too big for those games!

My aro never liked freeze dried krill- just didn't take to it. Didn't even like pellets that much. Shrimp, when he gets bigger, are always appreciated.

When I brought my silver home I had the same problem, he was raised on feeders, and only wanted feeders. To break him of this I let him fast for a day, then tried crickets on the second day. He was not interested in the crickets (my O had no problem eating all of them) but on the third day he would accept freeze dried krill. I feed him only krill for 2 days afterwards, making sure to drop it a few inches in front of his face as he swam by. Then I started doing the same thing with a krill/hikari carnivore stick mix. After a few days he now readily accepts the floating sticks, as well as all of the other food I drop in for his tank mates (pellets, flakes, etc.). Hope that helps :)
