I have unexpectedly found myself the new owner of a 9inch golden cobra snakehead. I do have a pair of Channa Andrao so I am familiar with their requirements but wanted to know if there is anything in particular I should be aware of with this fish species?
I am assuming it needs the seasonal drop? Currently it’s having to spend its time in my garage as I dont have space for a tank in my house (already have too many). The water temp currently is around 20. It is having to be kept temporarily in a 200 litre 3.5 foot tank as I just dont have anything bigger spare. What would be the absolute minimum size tank I can do with this as a single fish. I really want to keep this fish as I’ve wanted this type for a while and cannot believe I have one which was pretty much given to me, as someone was selling their tank and the new owners did not want the fish, so I took it for them.
Any advice and help would be as always much appreciated. I’ll try to attach a photo.

That’s great saying you feel it’s a bit too low but can I have your advice on what the seasonal changes should be for this fish? Bit too low does not really help me. Thanks

I believe that your snakehead come from India, which might not be the same as Thailand. But here, outdoor still water is seasonally between 25 and 35. Flowing water is cooler, but not a lot.

I believe this particular snakehead comes from northern India though where the water during winter goes down to around 19 and summer is around 25-25. Think this has something to do with the Himalayas but I’ll wait for someone else to say too. What’s your thoughts on my other questions….Hank size ext

1.5meter might be absolute minimum, normal temperature drops same as the other channas u have

I thought 1.5 was what I was looking at. This 3.5 is temporary 3-4 months tops! Do u think a 9inch cobra would be ok in a 4ft for 12 months? It’s just I am upgrading my African 1.5 next year to a 6-7 foot so that 5 foot will be spare then. I can get a 4 foot very cheap for now. Thanks for all the help.
