I just set up my 75 and found this guy at the lfs.. leporinus fasciatis... I know very little about him other than he will get about 12". Any suggestions for tank mates and general care? Currently there are rosy barbs in with him but I will probably move them.. I'm thinking about a J.D. or firemouth in there and maybe a catfish or two...

nice and these guys can get big. i've never owned one but i heard some ppl say they can get aggressive. careful with smaller fish

THERES A GOOD TANKMATE FOR A MIDAS....J/K...dont do it...:popcorn:awsome looking tank.... maybe try big cat and a dempsey...

the last time I had one it did fine with severums and lace cats, I don't remember what the tankmates were the first time... never saw any sign of aggression from mine, mine were always the only lep in the tank, but not solo fish. I did have one get swallowed by a senegal bichir. the senegal was about 4" and the lep was around 2.5".
general care? good water - mine was 7 pH, kelp and veggie flakes, and romaine leaves on a clip. I've read they are mostly vegetarians, but they had no problems eating any of the other foods that I use.

The last time I had one it got eaten by a catfish lol

Ya I read that they can be real mean... So far this guy is real peaceful... I'm gonna try a J.D and see how that goes... I really like this fish is kinda shark like and fairly active... I think I'm gonna name him "mac the knife" I just how he doesn't live up to that name... Lol

They are jumpers. Make sure your tank is covered.
Lost my 8" guy a few years back due to him trying to live outside the tank.

i got a 9incher and it stands its ground with midas and dovii the same length!!! pretty cool fish. heres mine
