My new tank (first real MONSTER)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
lol yeah You could say I saved at least 3K on this tanks when its done. I know that the shap of this tank it unique enough that I know it's a one of a kind.

man what a sweet deal! i would stock it with some rays or something along those lines, wow something that size would be nice to have in my basement. Congrats - I'm jealous

This is a pump you can incorperate on the U tubes...
they are 1.25"
2 of them can flow over 1000gph

This pump draws air OUT of the tubes and that's what starts the siphon...they are used on the overflows like below...

Actually that type of overflow does not require an aqua lifter. It's not a bad idea to have one, but it's not necessary. On the other side of the coin, a CPR style overflow almost has to have one.

:headbang2OK So I just ordered my bulkheads (1.5" clear from Dr. foster and smith) and my 65mm Glass hole saw from Chommpers guy THK (e-bay retailer). :headbang2

If all works out i'll have the bits and the bulkheads by the end of next week at the latest.

Then I can drill one and find out if they are tempered. lol

If they are then I am going to the glass shop and buying new NON tempered panels and having them drill them for me before I get them. I'm not sure what thats going to cost me but right now I don't care. lol I am to far to turn back now. ;)

If this all works out I might be able to do a test run in about three weeks. It souldn't take me long to build the sump once everything I need is here. And I have two extra tanks if I need. The only other big things I need to buy is some fully submerged biomedia and the tops. (along with the small things like the plumbing)

So I hope that everything goes fine when I get my bits. :grinno:

So there you go that's the update for now I shouldn't have anything new for a few. Unless something comes sooner then expected.

Also on a side note I tried to buy the first inhabitant for this tank today AND It didnt' go through. Aquarium Adventure Has a big 10"+ gibby and he was at one time for sale. Now they have him in a tank with a blood parrot school. And now they don't want to sell him. I even told the guy I would pay the full $60-80 they wanted for him when he was for sale. But still they tell me know. And for me to pay full price is nuts b/c today my g/f got over $100 worth of fish for like $38 All fish were on sale 65% off. So even me taking the 65% hit on the gibby wasn't good enough. CRAP.
I hope they change thier minds. I gave them my number and told them when or if he become available I want him. But I didn't tell them that if they jack his price up I won't buy him.

I got an e-mail from Dr.foster and smith about my order with the bulkheads. They should be here friday. That doesn't do me any good without the drill bit but. At least i'll have them. I haven't heard from the e-bay seller yet but I assume that he hopefully has sent them out.

I'll let you guys know when they all get here. then i'll post pics of everything. What I got and the tanks that I am drilling. (and any aftermath if they break.)

Koop171,
Please use good eye protection when you try to drill the tempered glass sides on that 55...it's going to fall into a million tiny pieces and there might be flying chips...~Zennz
