Nice pickup. You could go for a large shoal of tinfoil barbs or bala sharks.

I second that, i'd say go with some tinfoil barbs, bala sharks, or some silver dollars/or some red hook silver dollars.

Ok so I broke down and bought A 100 gal rubbermaid. And a sheet of .118 acrylic. and a sheet of eggcrate. All to make my New sump. It is LOADS cheeper then the 55 gal idea and I won't have to take apart the other tanks get new panels and reseal them. So this Idea is much better for now. Till I feel like redoing the stand and then I'll have a 120gal sump made to fit the stand. But for now this is what I will be useing.

I cut the eggcrate to fit on the lips in the tub. They were placed about where I wanted my drip plates anyway so I figured i'd let rubbermaid help me out. Then I cut the acrylic sheet the shap I wanted. It's not perfect the razor moved and I'm about a 1/8t-1/4" off on the bottom of one side but the top still lines up so It's all good.

I didn't do the math on how big the bio chamber will be but it's roughly 25gal+

the bottom drip plate is not movable but the top is so i can get to the bio media whenever I need. Amd the tub in the bottom is only there to hold things up till it dries then I replace that with some Small PVC tube cut in 4" sections.

Last thing I am going to do is get another sheet of acrylic and cut it to fit the top. So the evap won't be as bad. and I need to get some cheep pot scrubbies to finish filling the bio chamber.

All and all rubbermaid stock tanks as sumps works well for me lol.

Enjoy.

that'll work...:headbang2

I knew you'd like it lol.

I want to test fill it sunday but idk if the silicone will be dry enough. If I got the cash I am at least going to plumb the tank sunday but I still need to paint the overflow box and the bottom before I fill. I can't get to far ahead of myself.

Yeah As I wrote that Last post I almost forgot I needed to paint still. And with this tank being so big I do not want to test fill unless I have to. b/c draining it and drying it out then painting would suck. I need to figure out what to do with the heaters still. I don't know what kind or how many. and what to put them in/on b/c the tub says use caged heater only. I was thinking I could attach them to a cookie rack. But I didn't know how I am thinking zip ties but idk how they will hold up to the heat generated from the heater.

What are you painting?
And as far as your heaters, just stick them to the bottom of the sump...I'm sure the "caged heat" had to do with the livestock licking it...

if new2natives sees this..... That's the tank I got off him lol

haha, i just hope you dont hold me in any way responsible :) jk - sorry though, that does suck ... glad to see that you are able to work around it though!

thats a great idea for doing the biochamber/sump ... keep us posted on how its working out

and as for stocklist, i am going to contact a few people ... but i am considering selling off the fish in my 180 ... just tossing the idea around at the moment, but if you do rays, i think some of my fish would be awesome for you if you decide to go SA ... and by the time you're ready to fill it i will have decided what i'm doing ... :screwy::cry::screwy: (i think i'm just crazy, and hopefully i come back to my senses soon)
but anyhow if i do sell, i know that you would take good care of them, and have plenty of space, and thats what i would want if i do in fact sell anything

I'm painting the overflow box and I want to paint the bottom of the tank also but I don't have to. But I don't like the blue overflow box. I'll have to look into what rubbermaid means by caged heaters. You may be right. but I have spare cookie racks I can set the heaters on.

lol No I'm not holding anyone responsable. lol Ir I keep them around and redo the tanks later. i'll either have extras for myself or sell them and get my money back. I didn't know they were 100% tempered when I got them from you and know you didn't know that either. So it's my fault. If I got pissy about the stupid stuff I buy I would never be happy. Live and learn. lol

And as for your fish. If you want to get rid of them let me know what all you got and how much and how big. You know the usuall. And i'll look into it. But something that would be worth looking into for the both of us. You want them gone and I can home them if they are interesting enough. Let me know when you decide.
