My New Tems

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I went ahead and added another round of salt to the tank, so it’s up to about 3 tbsp per 5 gallons. I will add one more round tomorrow, and maybe one the day after. Then I’ll let it run for a week that way without feeding and see how it goes. The tank is now up to 90 degrees.

Two of the tems only have one or two spots on them and I still can’t find a single spot on my endli. However, one of the tems still has quite a bit on him, but acts fine and doesn’t seem to be getting worse.

Here is a picture of the worse one:

Don't skip the water changes. You want to remove the ich from the bottom of the tank after it has fallen off of your fish. Make sure you double up on airstones with the 90F temperature.

Ok, I’ll keep that in mind. I will have to figure out a way to get the new water up to 90 since my water change barrel is only at about 80. I might just change out about 5 gallons at a time and then refill with the 80 degree water. I doubt 5 gallons of 80 degree water will drop the tank temp that much.

It doesn't have to be large, just enough so that you can gravel vacuum the bottom. You can boil water and add it to your water change barrel. I have found that water boiled in a tea kettle will raise temperature of a 4 gallons of water at 65F to ~75F.

Just a little update. The fish are doing very well. The two that barely had anything on them don’t appear to have any at all anymore. The third one still has a decent amount on him, but they are decreasing and coming back. They are all swimming around actively and their behavior appears normal. I can tell that they are hungry because they keep picking at any little spec they see on the bottom of the tank. However, I am reluctant to feed them until this is all over with.

feed a little, with such a high temperature and them being really young, they need their strength to fight against ich.

None of them have any spots left on them. Two of them are eating very well and the third is showing interest in food, but I haven’t seen it eat anything yet. It just goes after it, sometimes grabbing it and spitting it out, and then let’s it go.

None of the fish in the tank have had any spots on them since Saturday. So, I turned the temp down from 90 to 85 today, and then I will turn it down from 85 to 82 tomorrow. After that it will be back to feeding, growing out and doing water changes like normal.

I turned the temp back down to 82 last night and went ahead and gave them a normal feeding. Two of them gorged on Hikari Carnivore pellets. The third, who I haven’t seen eat anything yet, put down a massive red wiggler that was originally intended for my endli. Here are a few pictures of them:

Also, as you can tell from the pictures, two of them have a bit of a bluish tint to their color, while one is very gold in color. Do you think they are all tems or did I possibly get something else with the gold one?

Here are some better pictures. They were feeling photogenic today. Lol

Can any of you tell if these are truly all tems? The two that have the bluish tint look to me like they are tems. However, the third one that is more gold with a more obvious spot on its tail looks like it is something different from the other two. Any options, or am I really just trying to tell too early?
